Help protect the prestigious, rural and quiet nature of Town and Country created by a unique balance of residential and green space at the core of the community. The existing residential based zoning model is one of the anchors of our high property values and elevates Town and Country above many surrounding municipalities. Compromising one of the community's core values by allowing the development of large commercial structures will shatter the image of Town and Country, and we will loose much of what makes us unique.
The city website says, "The primary physical defining characteristic of the City is a single-family residential community that is developed on generous, well-landscaped lots.... The result is a high quality community which prides itself on being a quiet, restful, green residential area, in contrast to the more intensely developed areas typical of St. Louis County." Our group wants to preserve this feeling, by sticking to our city's long range development plan. We do not support any deviations from the zoning in that plan.
The consequences of this rezoning plan reach far beyond the immediate neighbors of the Wirth property and the many residents that drive, ride or walk down Clayton road every day. The precedence set by such a clear deviation from the city's current plan and culture opens the doors for much more drastic changes. Please take some time to reflect on the characteristics of Town and Country that drew you in and those that are key to keeping you and your neighbors proud of our "high quality community."
